The sunniest spot in the UK, it has been a popular tourist destination for many famous names such as Alfred Lord Tennyson, Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens and Queen Victoria herself - she loved it so much she kept a winter home here at Osborne House!
The island has a rich history dating back to the Old Stone Age and flints from this period are still displayed, to this day, in Carisbrooke Castle. Dinosaur enthusiasts will delight in fossil hunts - we had over 20 breeds here once, even though we are the smallest county in England.
With so much to do here, from the oldest theme park and breath-taking coastal walks, to home grown food we love so much we have a garlic festival, there’s something here for everyone!
